My Journey into the Travel & Tour Industry
How I Moved to the “Manhattan” of Remote Travel Work
How I Moved to the “Manhattan” of Remote Travel Work
I’ve always dreamed of working in the travel and tours industry. Helping people plan dream vacations, exploring cultures it all felt magical. I even took a course in air ticketing and reservations, hoping it would open doors.
Then I did something half the internet told me not to do.
I joined Dreamport.

To me, Dreamport is like Manhattan. Everyone talks about it, it’s buzzing, full of ambition. No matter your background mom, student, career switcher you can build something here.
But just like moving to Manhattan expecting luxury, Dreamport’s beginning is a reality check.
So let’s rewind.
I operate throught Dreamport now.
No, I didn’t get a Cartier watch.
No, I wasn’t paid during training.
Yep, unpaid training. That part almost made me quit. Many amazing people we started together did.
Dreamport lets anyone in. It’s free, beginner-friendly, and remote. You learn a new profession, earn a certificate, and gain real skills.
Sounds perfect until you realize: there’s no earning during training.
At first, I thought, What?! How am I supposed to work for free?
Then I remembered: nobody pays you to learn Java coding either. It’s not entitlement it’s just how things work. Dreamport is no exception.
This isn’t a get-rich-quick path. It’s a learn-first, earn-later path. And that’s where most people drop off.
After online training, you enter live calls. You contact leads who submitted travel requests some time ago. It’s not cold calling exactly, but it feels like it.
And honestly? It’s tough.
People don’t answer. Some hang up. Others ghost.*Faints*
That’s when new freelancers say:
“These leads are bad.”
“This isn’t working.”
But expecting hot, ready-to-buy customers during training? That’s just not real.
You have to earn trust. Hone your skills. Stay consistently active. It’s not easy but it’s possible.
I studied. Shadowed calls. Practiced. Some days, I doubted everything. Other days, I felt hope.
Then I made my first booking. Then another.
Now? I help people travel the world. I earn decent compensation monthly. I work from anywhere. The freedom is real but so was the grind.
So if you’re considering Dreamport, know this:
It’s not a shortcut.
It’s not instant.
But it can work if you give in your best, show up!! and be consistent.
This is just the beginning.
Stay tuned. ☕
