New Leads, New Lessons & The Big No That Broke Me
Stepping Up, Facing Rejection
Stepping Up, Facing Rejection
The Promotion: “Chacha, Let’s Try You on New Requests”
Moving from bonus leads to new leads felt like being pushed from the kiddie pool straight into the deep ocean.
One minute, I was celebrating my first major win , that unforgettable 6-pax sale and the next minute, I was being told:
“Chacha, let’s try you on new leads.”
Everyone around me seemed convinced I was ready.
My advisor nodded with confidence.
My colleagues cheered me on.
Even I tried to hype myself up.
But inside?
I wasn’t completely sure.
New leads weren’t like bonus leads.
These were real customers with real inquiries and real expectations.
People who actually wanted to talk.
People who needed detailed answers.
People who could hear every shake, every pause, and every crack in your voice.
There would be no hiding behind voicemail anymore.
Still… I smiled and said:
“I’m ready.”
Even though my heart whispered: Are you sure?
My First New-Lead Conversation
The first time a new customer picked up, I swear my heart tried to escape through my throat.
It felt like everything I had learned suddenly evaporated.
I introduced myself, hoping I sounded confident.
My voice quivered a bit, but I kept going.
To my surprise, the customer stayed on the line.
She asked questions.
She listened.
She allowed me to guide her through the process, even though she didn’t make a booking in the end.
But her patience, her engagement , that alone felt like a tiny victory.
For the first time, I felt like maybe, just maybe, I could handle this new level.
The High Before the Low
I was still glowing from the excitement of my first big win.
The promotion had boosted my confidence, and I felt like I was finally stepping into the person I always thought I could be.
But new leads?
They don’t care about your previous wins.
They will test your strength.
Your patience.
Your emotional balance.
And very quickly, my confidence was about to face reality.
The Call That Broke Me
Then came that call.
The one rejection I wasn’t prepared for.
It started out well.
The customer sounded interested.
We were having a normal conversation , or so I thought.
Then suddenly, her tone shifted.
Something changed.
And before I could recover or redirect the conversation, she shut it down completely.
“I’m not interested anymore. Don’t call me.”
Then…..
Click.
The line went silent.
And honestly… so did I.
I stared at my screen, frozen.
My heart sank.
My confidence cracked.
Why That “No” Hurt So Much
It wasn’t the first rejection I had ever received.
But it was the first rejection after finally believing:
“Yes, I belong here.”
And that’s exactly why it hurt.
I felt embarrassed.
Disappointed.
And somehow… ashamed.
Questions started flooding in:
It wasn’t just a simple no , it felt personal.
Like someone had reached into my chest and pressed pause on my progress.
I didn’t cry… but I definitely broke a little inside.
The Fear Nobody Warned Me About
People talk a lot about closing deals.
They talk about hitting targets.
They talk about compensation rates and performance charts.
But nobody talks about:
That call shook me.
It humbled me.
It silenced the confident version of me I was slowly becoming.
The Turning Point
But here’s the beautiful irony:
The “no” that broke me
was also the “no” that shifted something inside me.
It forced me to confront my doubts.
It challenged me to rebuild my confidence brick by brick.
It made me ask hard questions and search for better answers.
It pushed me toward a version of myself I had never met before
a stronger, calmer, more grounded Chacha.
I didn’t know it at the time,
but that rejection was the beginning of a transformation.
It was the bruise before the breakthrough.
The dip before the rise.
The fall before the climb.
The rise came next…
but that’s a story for the next post.
Stay tuned. ☕✨
